About the Event
In March of 2022, Morris Model partners gathered on Zoom to participate in a Community Resilience Building workshop. The result of this workshop was a community resilience report on Morris's strengths and weaknesses when it came to climate and social resilence. In the year since this report was produced we experienced one of the worst storms to hit our area in decades. Winds of over 100 MPH tore through stevens county causing millions of dollars of damage to municipalities, farms, residences, and small businesses. 2022 also marked a record year for snow with over 50 inches falling during the year. This comes after two years of decreased snowfall. With this event we want to gather the community and important stakeholders to discuss resilience and what it means. We will share actions that the city of Morris, UMN Morris, and Stevens County are taking to become more resilient and we will gather input from attendants.
