The Morris Model recently won the 2021 University of Minnesota Sustainability & Energy Expo Lighting Talk Award for being a top presentation at the U of M's largest student-centered sustainability conference. University of Minnesota Morris student and Morris Model intern, Sam Rosemark gave the presentation and won the award. Sam shared information about the Morris Model, our Strategic Plan, and recent successes with our grant-funding for electric buses and our Community Resiliency Discussion Series.
Judges at the conference commented that the Morris Model is doing "very interesting work and great community engagement." They also remarked that the presentation was "excellent" and "beautifully presented."
Sam Rosemark is a senior double-majoring in political science and economics and minoring in environmental leadership & stewardship. He just finished up his second term as the UMN Morris Student Body President. He has been employed by the UMN Morris Office of Sustainability for a little over two years working on community engagement efforts around the Morris Model. Sam is also employed by the city of Morris where he is assisting greatly in the implementation and execution of the Morris Model Resiliency Discussion Series through his expertise in website development, Zoom, public engagement, and communications.
